Goals Supporting Our Mission:
- Maintain a highly qualified faculty and support staff with diverse areas of specialization covering the scope of the biological world.
- Provide quality courses in the areas of general education, health science preparation, and bachelor studies in preparation for the workforce, as well as graduate and professional studies.
- Create a learning environment that encourages self-reliance, intellectual challenge, and mutually high academic expectations for faculty, staff and students.
- Provide quality and rigor for both in person courses as well as online courses; ensuring that online courses provide content and rigor similar to in person courses.
- Develop and maintain quality course material and learning outcomes for distribution to adjunct instructors in order to maintain consistency and preparation for students.
- Cultivate research opportunities within the college and with area research partners that encourages the involvement of undergraduate students in original research.
- Foster high standards of professionalism and integrity for faculty, staff, and students.
- Protect our academic freedom and promote academic integrity for faculty and students.
- Promote diversity, equity and inclusion within the Department of Biological Sciences, among faculty, staff, and students.
- Recognize that effective implementation of the department’s goals requires cooperation, collegiality and collaboration amongst department members and colleagues of the greater academic community.
- Build scientific literacy for all citizens through our General Education courses and community outreach opportunities.
